Economic growth at 4%

Nepal is set to achieve a medium economic growth rate of 4% this fiscal year as per the Asian Development Outlook 2022. This is much lower than the government’s projection of 8%, and last year's figure at 5.8%. The ADB's estimate is based on the monetary policy introduced by Nepal Rastra bank due to soaring imports, depleted foreign reserves and inflation. The report also cites increase in agricultural production due to normal monsoon, but says yields may decline because of fertiliser shortage.
