Floods and landslides triggered by heavy rainfall have claimed at least 70 lives in southern Nepal and displaced thousands. Many plains districts in eastern Tarai have been inundated following heavy rainfall. Locals have abandoned their homes and shifted to temporary shelters. After three days of torrential rain, the weather is said to be improving in some of the affected parts of the country.
