TR Upadhyay, 73
One of Nepal’s most-respected chartered accountants, Tirtha Raj Upadhyay died on 13 May after an accident in Washington DC.
Upadhyay, 73, was descending the stairs of a shopping centre in Clarksburg, Maryland, when he fell and suffered severe head trauma. He was rushed to Suburban Hospital in Bethesda in an ambulance, and placed on life support but died 30 hours later.
Upadhya and his wife were in the United States to visit their two daughters and grandchildren whom they had not seen during the pandemic.
Upadhya founded the TR Upadhyay & Co firm and was held in high regard for his professionalism and integrity. He was involved with the global consulting firm KPMG in the reforms of Nepal Bank Ltd and Rastriya Banijya Bank.
