Matatirtha aunsi, or Mother's day, is celebrated by giving gifts to mothers and remembering mothers who have passed away.
On this day, those who have lost their mothers go on a pilgrimage to Matatirtha ponds in the outskirts of the Kathmandu. They take holy baths and make offerings for the peace of the soul.
