Why stay in a country like this where the politicians do not regard the national flag? I curse my bad luck for not being able to do anything when affronted with such situations.
Till when will I have to see this? Till when will I have to tolerate all the sadness?
When will the politicians come to love the country and its people? Is everything they do right?
Neither is there anything to say nor can we give this country to anyone. The only thing we can do is sit and stare, isn’t it?
The previous Facebook status of mine seems to have created a social media storm and garnered a lot of reactions. Yesterday I deleted my post by mistake and I deeply apologise for that.
I have always been writing about issues revolving around nationalism, national identity and being a Nepali.
I wrote about the national flag because many of us in Nepal do not know what the flag represents: the values of respect, equality, honor and life. It is our national pride, the honor of the people. Without this we have no identity.
Therefore, we have to respect everything that concerns the national flag.
The response that this post elicited demonstrates that Nepalis are serious about nationality and the nation. I do not intend to point fingers at anyone; I wrote what I felt.
It is not unnatural if I am loyal towards my company, Nepal Airlines, where I have spent three decades. And if anyone is to insult the company, I will oppose them. That is not my fault, is it? I even argue with my friends and family about it.
While I am working for Nepal Airlines, I will be this way. These are principles that I have learnt, known and understood. If tomorrow I am to work for another company, I will work with the same determination and will always live by these principles. I will be loyal towards my work.
This is what is lacking in our country today. If all of us are to work with the same conviction, the country will automatically leap towards the path of development. The nation will prosper only if we are to hone our minds and thoughts otherwise everything will be limited just to talk. We seem to have forgotten our principles in virtue of achieving political gains or any other successes. It is such greedy thoughts that we need to put an end to.
Jai Nepal!
