Buddha adds Kathmandu-Varanasi flights

Buddha Air has announced the launch of an additional third weekly flight between Kathmandu and Varanasi. The new Wednesday flights brings the total number of weekly flights to three, complementing the existing services on Mondays and Fridays.

The expanded frequency is part of Buddha Air's strategy to cater to the increasing demand for travel between Nepal and India, particularly for religious pilgrimage and tourism. Buddha Air is Nepal’s largest domestic airline with 18 aircraft serving 12 destinations.

Travelers now have greater flexibility for Nepali pilgrims planning visits to sacred Hindu and Buddhist sites in Varanasi and Sarnath, and for Indian pilgrims visiting Pahsupati, Janakpur, Muktinath and Lumbini in Nepal.

The new flight also facilitates easier access to Ayodhya, a major pilgrimage site 220 km from Varanasi, known as the birthplace of Lord Ram. In Nepal, Janakpur is the birthplace of Sita and Lumbini is the birthplace of the Buddha.

The increased flight frequency allows pilgrims from Nepal to also better organise their trips to Ayodhya, reducing time constraints and enhancing travel arrangements for group tours, especially during peak pilgrimage seasons.

In conjunction with the new flight, Buddha Holidays, the airline's tour division, is offering special holiday packages to Varanasi and Ayodhya. These packages include flights, accommodations, guided tours, and visits to key religious sites, providing a comprehensive travel experience that allows pilgrims to focus on their spiritual journeys without logistical concerns.

The Ayodhya Darshan packages feature visits to prominent sites such as the Ram Janmabhumi Temple and Hanuman Garhi, while the Varanasi packages include guided tours of the Kasi Vishwanath Temple and the famous ghats along the Ganges River. Designed for travelers with limited time, these packages streamline the travel process and enhance the overall experience.

Buddha Air continues to expand its services within Nepal and is planning connections from Indian airports to Pokhara as well. Says Buddha Air’s founder Birendra Banset: “The Nepal-India route is expected to see increased popularity, fostering stronger ties between the two countries and promoting greater tourism and cultural exchange.”

Making travels to India more accessible, Buddha Air has added a third weekly flight to Varanasi, India. The new flight, introduced for every Wednesday, complements the existing flights regularly scheduled for Mondays and Fridays. This expansion aims to provide greater convenience and accessibility for travellers visiting the religious and cultural sites of Varanasi.

The newly added Wednesday flight to Varanasi shows the airlines’ continued effort to meet the growing demand for travel between Nepal and India, particularly for pilgrimage and tourism purposes. With the third flight, travellers now have more options and flexibility.

This expanded schedule also makes it easier for travellers to visit Ayodhya. Located about 220 kilometres from Varanasi, Ayodhya is one of the most significant pilgrimage sites for Hindus, known as the birthplace of Lord Ram. With three weekly flights, travellers from Nepal now have more options to plan their pilgrimage to Ayodhya. This allows for better connections and reduces the time constraints for those looking to visit Ayodhya for religious purposes.

The new schedule also caters to easy management and travel arrangements for group tours, especially during the pilgrimage season when demand for travel to Ayodhya peaks.

In addition to the added flight, Buddha Holidays, the tour division of Buddha Air, is offering special holiday packages to Varanasi and Ayodhya. These packages are designed to take travellers to a complete experience, including flights, accommodations, guided tours, and visits to key religious sites. The packages aim to offer hassle-free travel for pilgrims, ensuring that they can focus on their religious journey without worrying about logistical details.

The Ayodhya Darshan packages include visits to key religious sites in Ayodhya, such as the Ram Janmabhumi Temple, Hanuman Garhi, and other significant locations. Similarly, the Varanasi packages offer guided tours of the famous Kashi Vishwanath Temple, the ghats of the Ganges River, and other culturally significant sites. These packages are especially beneficial for those with limited time, as they streamline the travel process and offer comprehensive services, from transportation to accommodation.

As Buddha Air continues to expand its services, the Nepal-India route is expected to grow in popularity, strengthening the ties between Nepal and India while nurturing greater tourism and cultural exchange between the two countries.
