India halves oil duties

India has cut customs duty on edible oil imports by 50%. Countries outside SAARC had been routing oil to India through Nepal to take advantage of the duty-free SAFTA mechanism. Repackaged edible oil is Nepal’s biggest item of export, and is expected to be hit.
