The Lalitpur Sub-municipal Corporation is to begin a campaign to sterilise street dogs as an alternative to poisoning them to death-the preferred method of dog population control in neighbouring Kathmandu. Rotarians of Patan and Kirtipur, and their supporters, are to finance the vasectomy drive. There's a bounty for city residents too: anyone helping round up eligible street dogs for a vasectomy will be paid Rs 50 each.
