The Ministry for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs has drafted an amendment to the Safe Motherhood and Reproductive Health Rights Act, 2018 that guarantees at least six months of paid maternity leave for mothers and up to 42 days of paid paternity leave for fathers. The Ministry plans to send the amendment Bill to the Cabinet before it is presented before Parliament.
