On the occasion of World Environment Day, 2001 people attempted a Guinness World Record for Largest Tree Hug on Thursday. The event, which took place in National Martyrs and Peace Park, Gokarna, attracted people from various walks of life. The event was organized by FORCE Nepal and is part of One Tree My Responsibility (OTMR) Campaign. The previous record of 936 people was set by Treecology Inc and Hoyt Arboretum in Portland, Oregon on 20th July, 2013.
