Holi day
The festival of colours, Fagu Purnima or Holi, makes its comeback today after a two-year's hiatus. People of all ages got together in their homes, communities, streets around the nation, drenched to the bone in festive colours, and exchanged celebratory greetings and well wishes.
Holi is the celebration of Spring and all things life, and the colours have garnered various shades of meanings and significance throughout history. A festival marked by intimacy and fervour as people smear colours and splash water on each other, Holi had been uncharacteristically quiet in the last two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic and restrictions. This year, however, with the decline in infections, the mirth has returned.
The festival will be celebrated in the Tarai tomorrow.
