Judoka Debu Thapa, who was injured in the elevator accident last week, has won a bronze medal in the South Asian Games.
Thapa suffered shoulder injuries when an elevator in the Imperial Hotel in Dhaka plunged several stories last week. She entered the games using painkillers and went on to defeat an Afghani player in below 63 kg category. Doctors had initially indicated that she should be unable to participate in any matches.
With Thapa's win, Nepal's medal count is six bronze.
Nepali squad got some relief today as men’s kabbadi and hadball teams won their matches against Sri Lanka and Afghanistan respectively. In kabbadi both, men’s and women’s, teams are likely to win the bronze medals.
