Nepal lost the opening men's hockey match to India on Saturday by an excruciating 21 goals.
India scored the first goal, played at the Moulana Bhashani Stadium in Dhaka, in the first 13 seconds of the match. It went on to score 10 goals in the first half of the game. Nepal did not score any goals.
Without necessary funding and lack of a single hockey pitch in the entire country Nepali hockey team was expecting a tough competition when they entered in the games.
During the 7th SAAF games, predecessor of SAG, Nepal scored just one goal and conceded 54 in four games. They said their strategy in the 11th South Asian Games would be “damage control”.
