The Tarai Arc Landscape Program is testing artificial scent signals to reduce human-wildlife conflict in buffer zones. Dispensers installed at 30 locations release odours mimicking territorial markings of tigers and leopards, prompting animals to move away. The technology was tested last year. Cameras monitor animal behavior continuously. If successful over the next five years, the model could be expanded to other conflict-prone areas of the country.
