The meeting of the Council of Ministers on Sunday expressed profound sorrow over the loss of life and property in the earthquake and the subsequent tsunami in Japan, and decided to send a team to help with the rescue efforts.

The Government decided to send a 15-member team on behalf of Nepal to support the Government of Japan and the Japanese people in the aftermath of the natural calamity.

Talking to media persons following the meeting, Minister for Education and spokesperson of the Government, Ganga Lal Tuladhar, said the rescue team will include 10 Nepal Army, three Nepal Police and two Armed Police personnel.

Five hundred blankets will also be dispatched in support of the Japanese people.
