Nanda Prasad and Ganga Maya Adhikari ended their hunger strike last night at Bir hospital. The Adhikari couple from Gorkha were on a hunger strike for the last one half month demanding investigation in their son Krishna Prasad Adhikari's case who was killed in 2004.
The elderly couple's health condition had started to deteriorate and they were admitted to Bir hosiptal's Intensive Care Unit three weeks ago. After several rounds of discussions the government agreed to their demands yesterday.
Their demands include the arrest of everyone accused in Krishna’s murder, swift investigation and action on the accused, return of their confiscated properties with compensation and guarantee security.
Ram Prasad Adhikari accused in the murder of Krishna Prasad Adhikari was arrested on Friday.The UCPN Maoist had called a day-long strike yesterday protesting the arrest of their party cadre. The strike was lifted in the afternoon after much public pressure.
