The District Development Committee, Nawalparasi has announced Pragatinagar Village Development Committee (VDC) as the best in the district.
Chief District Officer Hari Raj Panta made this announcement at a public programme organized in the district headquarters Parasi.
Pragatinagar received a cash award of Rs 200,000 along with a letter of certificate from the DDC. The VDC has one of the highest rates of adult literacy in the country and boasts cent percent school enrollment, birth registration and iodine consumption.
The VDC's success story was featured in Nepali Times in June 2010.
