look at how fickle the nepali mindset is .. india has still done nothing, only given some assurances. and everyone is running around like all is dandy again. why not hold them accountable until the fuels actually get to ppl, or the flights actually start taking off again. this is how india plays nepal, and we are getting played again. if there is any strand of brain left in those who care, this is no cause to stop building fuel line to the north.

What do you mean by intervention in internal matter, is india trying regimes change as other countries like usa is doing or invading and acquiring others country 's land like Russia or building military assets to undermine it's neighbours like china in South china sea. India is simply requesting certain clarification and adjustment, which can be easily done through discussion between the two parties, since it's effect the life of millions of people and their future . India has always favours Nepal and treated it's among equal, all benefits it get from is like any other state of india
Armugam Oct 4, 2015
We should act to increase accessible points to the North on war footing and build adequate strategic stocks of all essential goods. By so doing we will effectively "de-fang" all future embargo plans of babus of South! If not, we will wake up only after "another" embargo!

I m gorkha and i am from india and i m totally ashamed of what you (nepal government )people have done. You people without thinking any thing went to un for your own problem ....you people say that india is involved in all this mess that is created by you people what about china ...you never said any thing about it. We gorkha's in india are not at all happy with your atitude .... the country which always helped you ... today you people are against that country. Why will people of india will help you in future ...but. you will see that india will still help you not because you people have gone to un and india is frightened but bcoz india needs you and nepal is the only other hindu country apart from india.so nepal is the only brother country to india. But if you people still want to continue your hatred towards india don't forget we gokhas in india are more than 15 million in population we will also go to un in support of india and we will demand un to intervin in this matter.
We know china is behind this . But you people dont have the guts to say anything againts them.

Vikas thapa, India blockades Nepal, a sovereign country, just because we did not listen to it's dictates and you expect us Nepalis not to be angry with India? Where are you coming from? And you call yourself a Gorkhali? Do you know what hardships it is causing our Nepalis? Do you know in how many ways India's blockade of Nepal is illegal?
This is the problem with our stupid Gorkha brothers/sisters. India has always had an anti Nepali policy. Look at how they have given statehood to Uttarkhand, Jharkhand, Uttaranchal, Telangana and yet deny the Gorkhas of Darjeeling a statehood despite their demands being as genuine and a 100 years old!
Never forget how ethnic Gorkhas were cleansed from Bhutan with Indian help. Do you think Bhutan could have done it without Indian help? India actively helped Bhutan's Nepali genocide.
Regarding Nepal, India is always happy to see a weak, unstable country that they can aid, like a great friend helping a beggar, but as soon as Nepal tries to assert it's sovereignty and stand on it's feet - they beat us down.
Of course India will do what it's in it's interest - not that of Nepal or Nepalis. This is why we should look at how stupid we as a people have been not to take care of ourselves and our own.
Satya Prakash Oct 4, 2015
People of Nepal specially who are anti Indian must read the posting of Vikas Thapa, a Gorkha who is true Nepali and knows about India. India will remain friend of Nepal and if required will interfere in Nepali politics only for the benefit of Nepal with selfless motive. Our culture, values are common and we have family relation with Nepali so we wont allow any injustice with Nepali by the hand of political parties. Those who are agitating have some valid and reasonable demands and government cant be ignorant, which is for last 50 days. So many innocent Nepali are dead by police and government. The dialogue must start and the demands of agitating people should be heard and amicable solution should be given.
Khagendra Oct 4, 2015
My contacts at the border areas of Kakarbhitta, Bhairawaha & Nepalgunj tell me that fuel trunks are still only being allowed in small numbers. I think the blockade is still on.
Khagendra Oct 4, 2015
Satya Prakash, Nepalis should be neither pro or anti India/China. Nepalis should be pro Nepalis. End of.

Since when did Back of India = Open Blockage India.
Quite surprising mentality of people as on one hand they want them to go back and on the other they are pleading for help. Beggars with rights.
shyam Oct 4, 2015
@ khagendra no ill feeling but please talk logically, which sovereign countries aspiring to stand on it's feet discriminate between it's own citizens.what interest does india has in helping or sorry you do not like the word help ok what strategic important does nepal has for india to open its borders, give equal employment opportunities, to provide finished products such as machinery and petroleum products, just imagine the kind money it's will require to build refineries and factories , if if crude oil and raw materials for building heavy machineries has to be imported from as far middle east and America, calculate the transportion cost, can nepal afford it, it's getting all it needs right at it's doorstep, does nepal can help india economically or militarily in the time of need as Pakistan can do for china, the answer is no . Nepal gets all the benefits from India as any others states of india but wants to be treated as equal partner.Nepal want to be independent and stand on in own feet but couldn't sustain for just two weeks without the support of india . We support and provide not for any another reason but because we are morally and culturally tied.when father provide his son , its is because of his love and affection and not compulsion as some may believe . Partnership are between equal, where there is give and take relation, when you only take and doesn't return, you are always subordinate partner not equal (indian economic 2 trillion and nepal economy 67 billion, nepal's import from India 83% of total import)
Vineet Oct 4, 2015
India never imposed any blockade and neither has any such policy.
We Indian people have a lot of respect and love for Nepali ppl. India has helped Nepali people because we consider you as our own family. Don't think that any one thinks Nepal as a beggar, Modiji had rightly said India has never won any battle without the blood of our brave Gurkha. This is the reason for our love and respect, even if you are being influenced by China our Gurkha brothers will be always with us in every battle. However, you should also know that India being an aged democracy is advising, not forcing. It has every right to do so as being a brother and one who wants to see a progressive Nepal. Your political parties are misleading and are hand in glove with Chinese. You must understand this or the Chinese will use you against India. They are making 2 brothers fight.
shyam Oct 4, 2015
Why so much negativety about india in Nepal , it very difficult to understand as most indian don't think of Nepal and nepalese that way and indian government also does not interfere that much in the affairs of Nepalese government. It is obvious that smaller and less successful neighbours will always feel little jealous of it's much bigger and successful neighbours but one should think logically because you are also getting the benefits of same success. Both countries have sizeable population of people of their ethnic origin in each others country which is the most obvious reasons that we should have good relations instead of blaming each other .strategically I don't think nepal is of any importance to India or for that matter to china expect to embarrassed india when ever possible as we have soft corner for nepal as we are culturally and religiously very similar. To be successful one need to empower and concentrate on oneself rather on curtailing power of others.

To my Nepali brothers and sisters I have to remind you that for 60+ years since our independence our 2 countries have had the most cordial relations. In fact we had our doors (borders) aways open for you like you do for family. After all you are the only Hindu country besides India. I hope you realize that Communist party with influence and help of Chinese and Maoist movement has been creating trouble in your country. Chinese are trying to throw their weight by their newly created wealth and if you don't , play their tunes they will bully you like they are doing to Vietnam, Philippines South Korea, Japan and other smaller countries in South China sea. they will use uou to create trouble with India like they are doing with Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. They gobbled up Tibert. It is just matter of time that Nepal will be taken over by Chines in few years. India never invaded you. NEPALIS HAVE TO MAKE CHOICE HERE THEY WANT TO BE SOLD OUT TO CHINESE OR BE PROUD INDEPENDENT COUNTRY MAINTAINING THEIR HERITAGE AND INDEPENDENCE.
TiffinBox Oct 5, 2015
khogendra, you have the petrol and diesel flowing in now and you will have them for a long time from India. In the meanwhile, stage another protest, this time, bigger, better and more violent to ask your government to trade with China and seal of the border with India completely. Do not worry about the Gurkhas here in India, we believe hem to be one of ours. Please stop all trades with India and start off with China. An Indian.

I am a foreigner who has seen both Nepal and India and love both nations equally. In my opinion, the relation between India and Nepal is umbilical and any attempt to hate the other is equal to hating ones own cultural legacy and existence. India is a big nation and has her own geopolitical concerns which she has to address given the larger neighbor next door. Nepal on the other hand make decisions as a nation which they are entitled to but in international diplomacy, all are not equal. India is not equal to the US on the high table as Nepal is not to India. India shares geopolitical interests with the US but not with China. This makes it complex and any unrest in a friendly and brotherly nation is hard for India to ignore. What best Nepal and Nepalis need to do is to amicably settle internal differences by considering the stake holders involved rather than emotionally getting played by sinister politicians. China is visible through your political masters making anti India comments. India on the other hand need to help Nepal speed up the oil pipe line which was inked during the last visit by the Indian PM. This will help Nepal overcome the energy crisis and get into a long term strategic relationship than antagonising the larger Indian public who hardly notice the anti India shout in Nepal. It is better not to get their mass attention. It is not good for both of the great nations!!!!

If India is not anti Nepal/Nepalis just answer these facts instead of talking vague nonsense:
1. Why have the Nepalis of Darjeeling district being denied their own state or union territory when India has just recently provided statehood to Uttarkhand, Jharkhand, Uttaranchal and Telangana? The demand of the Nepalis of Darjeeling are just as genuine and much older-yet they are denied their own state within the Indian Union. Don't talk about economics and self sustainability etc Look at the size of the Union Territory of Pondicherry or Daman and Diu.
2. Why did Indian government actively aid and abet the ethnic cleansing of the Nepalese in Bhutan in the mid/late 1980s? Bhutan could have never done it without active Indian support. India even helped transport the ethnic Nepali Bhutanese refugees to Jhapa, Nepal as Bhutan and Nepal do not share any physical borders.
3. Why does the Indian govt. not respect the sovereignty of Nepal? Why does it have to react to it's internal problems with the Madeshis? We are trying to resolve it ourselves and India need not interfere. Would Indian govt. like it if the Islamic world interfered in Indian affairs because of anti Muslim riots in India? It violates so many international conventions and laws when blockading a land locked country like Nepal. Denial of such a blockade is stupid - Dhangadhi, Nepalgunj and Kakarbhitta border crossings with India witnessed no Madeshi protests yet India refused to let fuel tankers through. For your info. we have more border points then the Madeshi protest disturbed Rauxaul, Jogbani and Sunauli.
4. Lastly what is the problem if we have a trade relation with China? WTF does the Indian govt and every paranoid Indian have to accuse us of playing the 'China' card or cosying up to China if we have good relations with them? We are a sovereign nation and would like to have excellent relations with all countries - especially neighbouring countries. Why does India have to feel threatened? We want excellent relations with India too but not at the cost of our freedom and sovereignty.

I have always been a strong supporter of India. Nepal has so much to learn and gain from India by being a good neighbor in all respects of its dealings. Nepal should always do its best to maintain a good relationship with India by paying close attention to India’s sensitivities. However, the present quagmire created by an unofficial blockade by India has left me wondering .
Here is a chain of events mainly for many of my Indian friends to understand the real situation who have been well-wishers of Nepal:
1. India sends its envoy to Nepal right after the Constituent Assembly has approved the new constitution with an overwhelming majority. Indian envoy presents a 7-point list to include in the Constitution. Nepali leaders refuse to accept it mainly because the way it was presented by the envoy as if it is a colony of India. They term it as a direct interference to Nepal’s internal affairs. The 7-point demand includes some of the ridiculous points that India itself would not entertain if they were to redo their own constitution or amend it. In some points, Nepali leaders are willing to have a discussion with the terai based parties. The Indian envoy further informs the Nepal leaders that if India won’t accept the Nepal Constitution, it won’t have any meaning in the world.
Because it was labelled as a blatant interference to Nepal’s internal affairs by a neighbouring country, India quickly steps back by saying that the 7-point demand was submitted by the terai based parties, not by India. Lie #1
2. Then the blockade begins. India initially says the blockade was by the terai based parties at the border entry points. The Nepali side proves that the blockade was with the Indian government order and happening from the Indian border side. India also denies vehemently that it had anything to do with the blockade. Nepal terms it India’s unofficial blockade. India wants to make it look unofficial so that it would not have to face the violation of the international rights of a landlocked country.
India’s Foreign Minister says it will lift the blockade. In a talk with the Nepal’s ambassador to Delhi, India agrees to lift the blockade. Then again within hours withdraws it as if the people have not suffered enough.
The official position of New Delhi is reiterated: there is no blockade. Lie # 2.
3. To set the stage prior to the 7-point demand submission, the Indian Home Minister is reportedly informed the media that he will protect 10 million Indian citizens in Nepal. This would put a question mark on many of the agitating people based in terrain/madhes as if they are Indian citizens.
Final points:
India will do what it wants to do when it comes to Nepal notwithstanding the cultural ties with Nepal since ages. India Prime Minister Modi has earned so much capital of goodwill in his last two visits to Nepal. One would think that India will think twice before imposing the blockade, be it a declared or undeclared, when the common people will be the first ones to suffer.
Nepal, therefore, should do what it needs to do. It should not worry too much about annoying India. By playing with the fire, I do not think India wishes to have an unstable and agitating neighbor on its border. Nepal has dealt with the Maoists and paid a costly price and peace has come to the country. As a result, for the first time in Nepal’s history, we have the constitution that are crafted, drafted and approved by the people of Nepal. If our closest neighbor cannot join us in cherishing the advent of the new constitution, it must be termed as unfortunate. India should also know that decade long Maoist civil war in Nepal has left its repercussions and affects in many parts of India. It would be in the interest of all to have peace returned to those places through an amicable solution for which lessons can be learned from Nepal’s process of integration.
Nepal would, and must, pay heed to the just demand of the terai people and accommodate them by amending the constitution. However, India’s direct advocacy on behalf of the terai people would only be counterproductive.
It is rather unfortunate that our leaders in power and the administration did not make enough preparations to brief the international community on the new constitution. It should do it now.
At the end, I must say that the present blockade and India’s advocacy have left so much scar in the minds of the young generation that it will take a long time to heel it.
The feelings of Nepali people can aptly be summed up in the lines of the popular Nepali song:
Yaspali ta manai fatyo, ke le siune ke le taalne ho…

India has a substantial number of Gurkha Troops. Last time when the Indian Army Chief appealed on behalf of them and their suffering to the Indian Government for relaxing the blockade , Rajib Gandhi listened. So why not appeal to the Chief ,who does not like his men and their family to suffer this kind of hardship to use his good office for withdrawing this kind of unjust blockade.

I believe it is being done by Indian govt. under the pressure of Bihari lobby to woo voters in upcoming Bihar rlections.....This can change once Bihar elections are over

India is aspiring to become UNSC member. Forget it. With such blatant violation of treatise and convention on landlocked countries, wonder would UN even trust India. India's embargo is totally unjustified and unlawful.

For those who still do not understand why India would want to interfere in Nepal's internal affair, I have one word, "Ukraine".
Look at what happened in Ukraine and what is still happening there to make a correlation with what might happen in Nepal if Nepalese leaders listen to India to amend the constitution. Ukraine had a president who was very pro-russia; some even labelled him as KBG agent. Most of the Ukrainians were pro-europe. Crimea, a part of Ukraine very close to Russia where majority of Ukrainians have very strong ties to Russia. When a protest broke out in Kiev against the then-president of Ukrainie, he fled to Russia where he's been living since in full security provided by Poutin. Few weeks later, russian soldiers in civil marched inside Crimea and annexed it to Russia. People living in Crimea did not protest against this blatant russian invasion because they always felt more russian than urkanian.
End of story. Or may be a beginning of another story.
