A meeting of the ruling coalition of 18 parties at Prime Minister Nepal's residence today gave the green signal to the presentation of the new budget on 19 November. The new budget will most likely give continuation to current programs rather than new development programs.

CPN-UML leader Bharat Mohan Adhikari, attending the meeting presided over by the Prime Minister, said, “The meeting decided to allow the government to present a full-fledged budget.” Adhikari added that modifications can be made to the budget when the new government is formed.

RPP Chairman Pashupati Shumshere Rana said that the government would be allowed to present the budget through consensus, as the country could not run without one. Minister for Law, Prem Bahadur Singh, said the budget would be passed with a majority vote from the Legislature-Parliament.

The duration of the special advance budget expires after 18 November. The new, full-fledged budget is expected to come to Rs 330 billion.
