Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has sacked its physiotherapist Aijaz Bashir Ashai following allegations that he molested a masseause in Ireland.
Ashai, a 42-year-old Indian national, had reached Ireland as a physiotherapist for Nepal's national cricket team playing World Twenty-20 qualifying matches.
The Irish media has reported that Ashai asked for a full body massage in La Mon Hotel on Tuesday this week. The masseause has accused him of molesting her. He is now in police custody.
"He told her (the masseause) he was suffering in the groin and buttock area," the Irish media has quoted a police constable as saying: "He then grabbed her hands and forced them between his legs, while in a state of arousal."0
Ashai's lawyer has denied the charges labeled against him.
After International Cricket Council (ICC) wrote to CAN about the allegations against Ashai and his arrest, an emergency meeting of Nepali cricket's governing body dismissed him.
