The high-level Chinese delegation led by Zhou Yongkang, called on Prime Minister, Jhala Nath Khanal, at the latter’s office, Singhadarbar on Wednesday. Yongkang is a Standing Committee member of Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Secretary of Political and Legislative Affairs Committee of the CPC.
During the meeting, the issues related to bilateral relations and mutual interests were discussed.
Prime Minister’s advisor to the Foreign Affairs, Milan Tuladhar, said that the PM informed the Chinese delegation about the present political situation of Nepal. PM Khanal told the Chinese officials that Nepal believes that the relation between Nepal and China should be robust and friendly during the period of all kinds of governments in Nepal.
The PM committed to the one-China policy and pledged to stop the anti-Chinese activities in Nepal, said Tuladhar.
The 60-member high-level Chinese delegation had arrived on Tuesday in Nepal on a three-day visit upon the invitation of the Government of Nepal.
The high-level Chinese delegation consists three Chinese ministers and is considered as the top-level visit from the Chinese officials in the last eight years.
On the occasion, Yongkang told the PM that China has given high importance to the relations between the two countries and the delegation was in Nepal visit despite Nepal’s transitional political situation, informed Tuladhar to journalists.
Saying China has realized the necessity of a peaceful environment to upgrade people’s living standard, Yongkang committed to supporting the aspiration of the Nepali citizens, added Tuladhar.
The delegation also informed PM Khanal about an invitation from his Chinese counterpart, Wen Jiabao
