The Chinese are sending a message that it is not just the Indians who are worried about the political deadlock in Nepal. The visiting Chinese delegation led by Ai Ping who is the deputy for Asian affairs at Chinese Communist Party’s international department held top-level political meetings on Saturday.
The Chinese delegation held separate meetings with Nepali Congress president Sushil Koirala, UCPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Madhesi Front coordinator Bijay Kumar Gachhadar and CPN-UML chairman Jhala Nath Khanal to discuss current political situation after the dissolution of the CA.
The meetings focused around the dissolution of the CA and the prospects for the next elections. This is the biggest Chinese delegation to visit Kathmandu after Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao’s visit in January this year.
