Following the directives of the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) to halt investigations into five Maoist cadres accused of murdering Dailekh-based journalist Dekendra Thapa, residents of Dailekh have announced fresh round of protest. They carried out demonstration demanding free and fair investigation into Dekendra's case. Rights activists, journalists, and people from all walks of life have been staging similar demonstrations across the country demanding the same.

Journalists and officials of human rights watch group INSEC met with Dailekh's civil society, political parties and victim's family to monitor the ongoing investigation.

Lachhiram Gharti, who confessed killing of journalist Dekendra in 2004 has been in the police custody since the last eight days.
