Nepal has topped the list of countries who have made the greatest strides in improving human development since 1980, according to the UN’s annual Human Development Index (HDI). The HDI is a combination of three sub-indices covering wealth, health and education.

Most countries that have performed better according to the index lie in Asia while those who have improved the least are mainly in Africa, with Zimbabwe at the bottom of the list.
