The Netherlands government on Monday reiterated its commitment to help Nepal in post-earthquake reconstruction works.
Lilianne Ploumen, the Netherlands' Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, told a press conference in Kathmandu on Monday that the Dutch government will continue its support to Nepal through various agencies.
The Netherlands has already provided 10 million euros to Nepal's earthquake survivors through Dutch Relief Agency, Red Cross and World Food Program (WFP). The Dutch people raised an additional 20 million euros and spent it in Nepal through various NGOs.
Ploumen said that the 25 June donor summit will be an opportunity for Nepal's development partners to prepare for post-earthquake reconstruction and rehabilitation projects.
Ploumen did not say if Nepal's development partners, including the Dutch government, will pledge money for post-earthquake reconstruction works at the donor summit. She said, "It will not be a one-shot effort but will be the beginning of a series of discussions to help Nepal."
Ploumen also said that the earthquake has left more people and children physically disabled and Nepal needs to start dialogues and preparations to have an inclusive policy for them.
Apart from meeting Nepal's Foreign Affairs Minister Mahendra Pandey, Ploumen also visited some earthquake-affected areas and lauded Nepalis' outstanding resilience.
