Having already invested Rs 2.7 billion in 37 districts since the fiscal year 2067-68, the youth self-employment programme plans to reach all 240 election-centres in 75 districts through cooperatives and government banks.
According to Punya Prasad Regmi, deputy chairman of the programme, up to two cooperatives at each election-centre or four in each district will provide interest-free loans to applicants.
Regmi also pointed out that the programme's policy of processing loans through government banks would prevent misuse and deflect allegations of distributing taxpayers' money to party cadres only.
