Casino proprietors who have not paid the royalty for long have agreed to pay the dues to the government on installment basis. The casino proprietors agreed to pay the royalty in installment at a discussion held in the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation on Thursday.

General Manager of Casino Anna, Tapta Bahadur Bista said the proprietors of the casinos were ready to pay the royalties if the environment conducive to that end was prepared by the government.

Secretary at the Ministry Ganesh Raj Joshi said that all 10 casinos across the country have to pay Rs 500 million in royalties.

He said, "It is positive to agree to pay the royalties by the casino proprietors at a time when they were not ready to clear the dues despite repeated call from the government bodies."

Casino Anna, Casino Everest, Casino Royal, and Casino Tara, among other casinos have to pay Rs. 500 million taxes of the last fiscal year. Of them, only Casino Shangri-La has paid Rs. 20 million so far while Casino Nepal based in Hotel Soaltee Crown Plaza has shut down.
