Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal has expressed commitment to abide by the seven-point agreement he signed with the UCPN (Maoist). He said that efforts to forge consensus are underway and that the Maoists and other parties will join the government soon.
Speaking at a program organised by the pro-UML journalists’ organisation Press Chautari Nepal in Kathmandu today, PM Khanal said that the government has already started implementing the seven-point agreement. Khanal also urged Nepali Congress and other forces to join the present government, saying that division between the democratic forces hampers the constitution writing and peace process.
However, Khanal clarified that he was in favour of UML handling the Home Ministry in the new government.
