Following the decision of their central committee meeting on Thursday, top leaders of the Nepali Congress stated at a function in Palpa that an NC-led government was the first condition for the revival of the Constituent Assembly.
But at another programme at the Reporters' Club in Kathmandu on Saturday, NC central committee member Arjun Narsingh KC declared that reviving the CA would be against the spirit of democracy and the decision of the Supreme Court.
At the same programme, UML leader Bhim Rawal asserted that the parties had no alternative but to make consensus and go for fresh CA elections, while the Prime Minister's political adviser Devendra Poudel said his party was open to both elections and CA revival.
