The meeting of the Council of Ministers appointed Madan Pariyar as the coordinator of the State Restructuring Commission (SRC) on Tuesday.

Pariyar was recommended for the post by a meeting of the main political parties few days back. An agriculture expert, Pariyar has previously served as the Managing Director of Udaypur Cement Factory, Udaypur.

The government decision comes two days after the major three parties and UDMF decided to nominate Pariyar as the head of eight-member SRC, amid criticism that there is not a single representation of people of Dalit community.

Those appointed as the Commission members include Malla K Sundar and Stella Tamang from the UCPN (Maoist), Sabitra Gurung and Dr Ramesh Dhungel from the Nepali Congress and Sarbaraj Khadka and Bhogendra Jha from the CPN ( UML). Krishna Hachhethu and Surendra Mahato are the members elected for the Commission from the United Democratic Madeshi Front (UDMF), an alliance of the Madhes-centric parties.
