Local residents in Amchowk VDC in western Ilam have produced electricity (40 KW) in their own efforts.

They have produced power from Maiganga Micro Hydropower Project from the local Phakphok river that lies in the border of Amchowk and Phakphowk VDCs.

The villagers collected Rs 13,000 to Rs 26,000 and contributed labour for the construction. They collected Rs. 3.3 million at the local level and rest of the expenses was granted by the government, said a local resident Santosh Acharya.

Around 340 households will be benefit from the project.
