A meeting of the three major political parties held on Sunday to discuss formation of proposed Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and the Commission on Inquiry into Disappearances (CID), ended without reaching any conclusion. The meeting was held at the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction, Singa Darbar.

The meeting couldn't make any headway after leaders complained that the draft bills finalised by the Ministry of Law for the formation of TRC and CID was not satisfactory and didn't meet their standards.

UCPN-Maoist and Nepali Congress focussed on reconciliation between offender and victim, while the UML argued that amnesty could not be given if the victim rejects reconciliation. Regarding the bill on disappearances, NC and UML opposed the proposed draft bill saying it did not meet the standard of the TRC bill in reconciling offender and victim.

The Law Ministry has been asked to make necessary amendments in the two bills after consulting with legal and conflict experts.
