Altogether 120 families of Ward no. 1 and 2 of rural Subarnakhal VDC of Arghakhachi district have been benefited from electricity generated from local Badahara rivulet.
According to District Programme Coordinator of REDA Usha Karki, eight kilowatt of electricity has been generated at the cost of around Rs 2.28 million.
The Regional Renewable Energy Service Center had provided coordination support and REDA, Palpa had invested one million rupees while locals contributed Rs 620,000 for the power generation.
Likewise, the VDC supported Rs 150,000, women group Rs 141,500, community forest Rs 10,000 and people’s contribution worth Rs 360,000 in kind for the purpose.
Dhundi Raj Belbase, a local, said number of people migrating from the village has decreased with electricity service coming into operation here.
Locals have formed a committee to supervise the hydropower project.
They have collected Rs 80 from each family every month for the maintenance, said Chairman of Users' Committee, Ujir Singh Sijapati.
