A Nepal Army aircraft RAN 49 Islander aircraft that left for Kathmandu from Nepalgunj carrying a sick person has gone out of contact since 7.05 pm on Tuesday.

The aircraft had left Nepalgunj at 6.25 pm and there were six persons on board including two crew members. The Nepal Army Public Relations Directorate stated in a press release at 11 pm that the aircraft has met with an accident at Bobang of Baglung.

The aircraft was also carrying four other passengers along with members of the crew including pilots Captain Diwakar Karki and Bikas Singh Rathour, Dr. Rabita Pathak, patient Keshab Airi, his brother Ram Singh Airi of the Nepal Police and a soldier with the Rudradhoj Battalion, Milan Gotame, according to the NA Public Relations Directorate.

The accident took place in a dense forest at a place called Chaudhuil ko Dhuri at Bobang VDC-9, Baglung district at 7.30 pm Tuesday evening. The aircraft was expected to land in Kathmandu at 8.05pm.

A rescue team of the Nepal Army has been dispatched to the accident site from the army base camp at Bhimgitthe. The site of the accident is five hours trek from the barracks.

Meanwhile, the night vision helicopter that was about to be sent to the site from here has not been able to take off due to adverse weather condition. A police rescue team has also left for the place, Deputy Superintendent of Police Uma Prasad Chaturvedi said.

A team of Nepal Police from the Dhorpatan is reported to have reached near the accident site at 11.55 pm. Detailed information on the incident is awaited.
