UK Metropolitan police have arrested a 46 year old Nepali man on suspicion of committing war crimes and human rights abuse during the conflict.

The unnamed man was arrested from the town of St Leonard-on-sea in East Sussex just after 7am on Thursday morning.

The man is being held in custody under section 134 of UK's Criminal Justices Act 1988, which allows the Metropolitan police to arrest individuals suspected of overseas war crimes, torture, and human rights abuses.

The BBC reports that the police acted on a complaint registered in the UK, and that the man could be connected to an earlier regime. Investigations led by UK Metropolitan police's Counter Terrorism Command are still going on.
