Nepal Army troops deployed as United Nations peacekeepers were attacked in the Democratic Republic of Congo on Monday.

Five Nepali troops were injured in the grenade attack by unknown assailants in a remote region of the war-torn African nation yesterday.

Although more details of the attack are awaited, NA spokesperson Brigadier General Jagadish Chandra Pokharel said that the condition of two NA personnel among the five injured in the attack was critical.

Pokharel said that the injured are currently receiving treatment at the army run health camp.

UN officials were not immediately available to comment on the incident.
