Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi met Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Saturday.

Nidhi, who is on a four-day official visit as the special envoy of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, conveyed the message that the new government's top priority is to address the grievances of all agitating parties regarding the Constitution.

According to a press release issued by the Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi, Nidhi also stressed the need to expedite the implementation of ongoing joint projects — especially the Hulaki road, crossborder railway and Pancheshwar Multipurpose Project — and identify new areas of cooperation as well.

In response, PM Modi gave the assurance that India is committed to supporting the priorities of the new government of Nepal. He also conveyed an invitation to PM Dahal to visit India at his earliest convenience.

Nidhi is in New Delhi to invite India’s President Pranab Mukherjee to Nepal and lay the groundwork for PM Dahal’s India visit, followed by President Bidya Bhandari’s visit, later this year.
