Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has ruled out any possibility of reviving the dissolved Constituent Assembly (CA).

Speaking at press conference organised by Revolutionary Journalists' Association (RJA) in Pokhara, Prime Minister Bhattarai said that the Supreme Court could again reject if efforts are made to resurrect the CA, which was dissolved automatically.

"The present Constitution has not bestowed power to anyone to reinstate the CA, so the CA revival is not possible," PM Bhattarai said.

Terming the opposition parties' protest an outcome of immediate response, he added that the elections would be successful if the parties were committed to democracy and peace. The PM further said he was compelled to announce the elections date abiding by the ruling of the Supreme Court to avert political, constitutional and moral crisis, urging other parties to work with conscience by shunning emotional outburst and aggression.

At the press meet, PM Bhattarai also expressed readiness to quit the prime ministerial post if the dissent Mohan Baidhya faction worked with firm commitment in favour of party unity.

Meanwhile, in Kathmandu, 22 political parties organised a mass protest gathering at Khula Manch against the announcement of fresh CA elections, accusing it as a pre-planned move to capture state power.
