The Supreme Court on Thursday directed the government to amend the ordinance on Truth and Reconciliation Committee by revoking the provision for amnesty in serious crimes committed during the conflict.

The special bench of justices Kalyan Shrestha, Girish Chandra Lal, Sushil Karki which issued the order today has also directed the government to form two separate commissions on Truth and Reconciliation and Enforced Differences. President Ram Baran Yadav had passed the ordinance to set up Truth and Reconciliation Committee last March.

The court was responding to a writ filed by attorney Madhav Kumar Basnet and conflict victims, against the proposed ordinance.
