UCPN (Maoist) Vice Chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha and General Secretary Post Bahadur Bogati resigned from their posts on Saturday. Their resignation comes after Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Friday floated the proposal to keep only the post of chairman and dissolve all other posts as central committee members.
Dahal's proposal of chairman centered leadership is all set to be endorsed at the ongoing extended plenum of the party at Khanna Garment in Lalitpur. Sixteen groups formed to discuss Dahal's proposal have supported the one man leadership model.
The extended plenum was called after UCPN (Maoist) leader Baburam Bhattarai stepped down as party Vice Chairman on 30 June. The plenum aimed at settling the intra-party dispute which surfaced after Bhattarai's resignation.
