Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has denied about any promise was made to provide the Ministry of Home Affairs to CPN-UML.
“We have not reached any agreement, as it has been publicised, to provide Home Ministry to UML,” Koirala told journalists after a meeting of Constituent Assembly in New Baneshwor on Wednesday.
NC leader Ram Sharan Mahat, too, claimed that no such agreement has been made with the UML.
“NC has not been dishonest to UML, nor UML has been to NC,” Mahat said. “The fact is that both the largest parties have claims over the Home Ministry. But this matter has not been settled yet,” he said.
Retorting to the claims of Koirala and Mahat, UML Chairperson Jhalanath Khanal have dismissed those claims.
“NC has to be responsible at a time when NC and UML have decided form a coalition government and move ahead,” Khanal said.
“It’s a fact that an agreement was reached during the talks to provide Home Ministry to UML. It’s inappropriate that the NC is deviating from the previous understanding,” Khanal added.
In the mean time, UML Senior Leader Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that his party will participate in the government only when a respectable representation is offered to the UML.
“All issues have to be resolved through discussions including the issue of Home Ministry,” Nepal said
