Dr Bhagwan Koirala the director of Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) submitted his resignation on Friday.
Koirala who was appointed as the director of TUTH four months ago, hasn’t yet clarified the reason for the resignation.
“There are many things that led me to resign which I will make public very soon, hopefully by tomorrow,” said Dr. Koirala speaking to Himalkhabar. “I have asked for my resignation to be approved soon,” he said.
Following his appointment at TUTH, things were finally changing at the hospital which was plagued by chronic management and political interference for a long time. According to the sources at the hospital, Dr. Koirala wasn’t allowed to work independently and didn’t receive co-operation from different groups within TUTH.
His resignation has created an uproar among the people who have turned to social media to vent their anger at the political interference at TUTH. #RestoreBKoirala has been trending on Twitter with people demanding Dr. Bhagwan Koirala to be reinstated.
Cardiac surgeon Koirala was the director of Shahid Gangalal Heart Center for eight years from 2001 to 2009.
