The regrouping of members of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) began on Saturday in seven cantonments. Survey teams have begun the process in Ilam, Sindhuli, Chitwan, Nawalparasi, Rolpa, Surkhet and Kailali.
During the regrouping the combatants will be asked to voluntarily choose one of the three options - integration, rehabilitation and voluntary retirement.
As per the action plan passed by the Army Integration Special Committee, the regrouping process will conclude on 28 November.
A maximum of 6500 combatants will be integrated into a new General Directorate of the Nepal Army while the remaining will be either provided with a rehabilitation package or a voluntary retirement.
