The Government of Finland has agreed to provide Nepal a grant assistance of Rs. 328 million for the implementation of the Strengthening of Environmental Administration and Management at the Local Level in Nepal (SEAM-N) project.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between the two countries at the Ministry of Finance on Monday in presence of Finance Minister Barshaman Pun and International Development Minister of Finland, Heidi Hautala.

The agreement was signed by Joint Secretary at the Finance Ministry, Lal Shanker Ghimire and Finish Ambassador to Nepal, Asko Luukkainen on behalf of their respective governments.

According to the agreement, the amount would be spent for improving the environmental health of nine districts in the eastern development region through environmental good governance and management project.

The Project is expected to contribute to the protection of environment by way of environmentally sustainable rural, urban and industrial development and improving local level environmental administration and management capacities and practices within the project areas.
