Rukum now has internet access.
Internet service has started in Birendra Higher Secondary School in Banfikit, Rukum, for its students as well as the locals of the area. This project is part of the government's plan to increase internet penetration and enhance access of rural students to information.
The internet service was brought into operation with the financial assistance of the government's High-level Commission on Information Technology and Information Technology Centre.
The locals and the students of Rukum were euphoric after they were able to access internet in their own villages. Earlier, the locals had to walk hours to the district headquarters for internet service.
Survey to set up internet services has also been conducted in Mahendra Higher Secondary School in Chiwang, Chautara. The school principal, Nanda Ram Khadka, says that the facility will soon be installed.
