The Kathmandu Valley bandh called by UML-affiliated All Nepal Free Student Union (ANNFSU) ended at 12 noon today.

ANNFSU enforced the strike demanding arrest of the cadres of Nepali Congress-aligned Nepal Student Union who were involved in attacking its activists in Tri-Chandra Campus. On Sunday, NSU cadres attacked ANNFSU member Birendra Rawal on the campus premises with a khukuri and injured him.

The bandh was called till 12 noon in consideration of the ongoing examination of Bachelor's Degree II Year.

In the aftermath of repeated brawls between the student unions of the two major parties, police have arrested 24 ANNFSU cadres from Tri-Chandara and 12 from RR Campus.

ANNFSU Secretary Rachana Khadka said the bandh was "largely successful" and demanded immediate arrest of the NSU cadres behind the attack.

ANNFSU cadres staged sit-ins in several areas in the Valley and chanted slogans.
