The Supreme Court has issued an interim order to the government on Sunday to halt its plans to hand out payments to disqualified UCPN(M) ex-combatants.
Earlier, the government had decided to dole out Rs 200,000 each to 3000 ex-soldiers who were disqualified by the UNMIN in 2007.
Following a writ petition registered against the PM, office of the cabinet, Home Ministry, and Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction, a single bench presided by Justice Girish Chandra Lal stayed the government's decision.
