The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has asked the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) to suspend Armed Police Force (APF) Chief Koshraj Onta with immediate effect from Thursday.
The anti-graft body has also asked the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) and the APF headquarters to immediately suspend DSPs Suman Jang Thapa and Ram Krishna Maharjan and inspector Bin Bahadur Thapa.
The CIAA has charged the APF Inspector General Onta and three other high-ranking officials with 'misuse of power'.
The CIAA says Onta and other accused officials forged bills to embezzle transportation budget allocated by the government to the APF.
According to a statement issued by the CIAA on Thursday, the APF had hired Sada Jyto Suppliers as a transportation contract to supply ration and other materials to its local units across the country. But Onta and other APF officials forged transportation bills in connivance with the contract supplier to embezzle money.
The CIAA has recommended Onta and other officials be suspended immediately as 'they can tamper with evidence if they remain in the office'.
