Minister for Law Nar Hari Acharya registered the bills related to formation of Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and Enforced Disappearance Commission in Legislature Parliament on Wednesday.

After being adjourned for two hours following protest by UCPN (Maoist) lawmakers over what they claimed as the government’s failure to present the two transitional justice bills in the House, the Legislature Parliament session of the Constituent Assembly reconvened today afternoon to finally see the Law Minister register the two bills for the formation of TRC and Enforced Disappearance Commission as promised  by the Comprehensive Peace Accord and the Interim Constitution.

The government decided to register the two bills in the House on Wednesday following the decision to do so by the emergency cabinet meeting.

The three major political parties had few days ago reached an agreement to register the two transitional justice bills today. However, dispute arose in their talks on Tuesday over the provision of amnesty and prosecution in the proposed bills.
