A Young Communist League activist was killed on Saturday when a dispute between YCL and UML affiliated Youth Force turned deadly. The Kathmandu Post writes:

An activist of the Young Communist League (YCL), the youth wing of the UCPN (Maoist), was allegedly hacked to death by the Youth Force (YF), the youth wing of CPN-UML, at Batechaur of Sahare, Surkhet, on Saturday night.

YCL activist Asharam Sunar was murdered when YF supporters attacked him with sharp weapons, police said. Two YCL cadre, Khim Bahadur Oli and Seturam Sunar, and a local teacher, Hira B.K., have also sustained serious injuries in the incident. They are undergoing treatment at the Surkhet-based Mid-Western Regional Hospital.

The YF has refuted the allegation and claimed that its members were not involved in the incident.

The Maoist party has called an indefinite banda in Surkhet district demanding action against those involved in the incident.

A media entrepreneur was also killed in Janakpur on Monday. The deceased, Arun Singhaniya, was the publisher of Janakpur Today daily. He was also the president of Janakpur Today FM radio where journalist Uma Singh, who was murdered last year, used to work. Kantipur writes:

Singhaniya was gunned down by six unidentified me while he was returning home after celebrating Holi with his friends in Bhanu Chowk, the police said. He died on the spot after sustaining three bullet shots.
